Nutrition Tips For Your Cat

Here is what to look for in a good food:

The first ingredients should be named meats, poultry or fish

Avoid by-products (including meat-and-bone-meal and beef-and- bone-meal).

Eliminate or highly limit the grains. Limit the carbohydrates. There is an increasing push by many quality pet food companies to eliminate or significantly reduce grains in pet food. Click here to learn about some of the problems linked to grains.

Avoid the chemical preservatives and humidity retainer (BHA, BHT, propyl gallate, ethoxyquin, propylene glycol).

Select “natural” or “human grade” foods. These terms have no legal definition but are generally seen on better-quality foods.

Consider removing dry cat food from your cat’s diet. An increasing number of vets are recommending feeding canned rather than dry. To learn more click here

Pro-biotics and pre-biotics can be helpful to boost the immunity.
